Behind The Name
Nov. 26th, 2019 12:16 pmI don't know if this is stating the obvious or not but Indigo is not my actual name. It's in the same family as my given name and I've been using it as a nickname for about 10 years at this point. When I went to university and no-one knew me and you could be all 'call me Indigo' and no-one questioned it. I really like it and I've even thought about changing it legally but it seems like an awful lot of work!
practicalvisionary came out of the fact I couldn't find a username that hadn't already been taken and I didn't want to just use my name because that would have been boring. Plus I'm not sure I want my surname online, don't know that I want people who know me in RL to find my journal.
I was playing around with the symbology behind Indigo because I find that incredibly interesting. It's scary how well it describes me actually. One of the terms used to describe the personality of people who's favourite colour is 'practical visionary' and I thought that sounded pretty freaking awesome and, most importantly, wasn't taken!
nothing is permanent is pretty much my motto in life. I think it was Charlie Chaplin who said Nothing is permanent in this wicked world - not even our troubles. and that's something that's helping me with my battle against depression. Because this too shall pass.
Now if only I could find usernames on other social media sites that weren't taken... #firstworldproblems
